This year marks the 35th anniversary of Poland’s accession to the Council of Europe – an organization that, for more than 75 years, has stood as a guardian of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. Today, the Council of Europe brings together 46 member states and remains one of the continent’s foremost forums for political cooperation.
A central role within the organization is played by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), which convenes in Strasbourg and brings together parliamentarians from all member states. It is within this forum that debates are held and initiatives are advanced on the most pressing challenges facing Europe, including security, the protection of human rights, continued support for Ukraine, and the defense of democratic principles.
For the past two and a half years, Agnieszka Pomaska has served as Head of the Polish Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Her work within the Assembly provides an opportunity to represent Poland in international deliberations and to contribute to shaping responses to the key challenges that will define Europe’s future.
