Inauguration of the plenary meeting of the Conference of Union Affairs Committees of Parliaments of the European Union (COSAC).

The Conference of the Committee on Union Affairs of the Parliaments of the European Union (COSAC) has begun at the Sejm. The official welcome ceremony combined with an occasional concert by the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw took place on Sunday (June 8) in the Large Hall of the Warsaw University of Technology Building. In turn, the main COSAC plenary talks are scheduled for June 9 and 10 at the Sejm.

Earlier, a meeting of the COSAC Troika was held at the Sejm. The session was co-chaired by the chairwoman of the Sejm Committee for European Union Affairs, MP Agnieszka Pomaska, and the chairman of the Senate Committee for European Union Affairs, Sen. Tomasz Grodzki.

During the meeting, among other things, the program of the COSAC plenary meeting was approved. Also adopted were draft comments and conclusions of COSAC, which will be considered at Monday’s (June 9) meeting of the heads of delegations of EU member states and the European Parliament. The subject of the body’s work was also information on the 43rd semi-annual COSAC report. Also discussed was the co-financing of the position of permanent member of the COSAC Secretariat for the next two-year period, from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027.

The Troika meeting was attended by the chairpersons of the European Affairs Committees of the parliaments of the three countries: the country holding the presidency of the Council of the EU, the preceding country and the country that will assume the presidency in the future, as well as the European Parliament. The Danish side was represented in the deliberations by the chairwoman of the Committee on European Affairs of the Danish Parliament, Brigitte K. Jerkel. The Hungarian side was represented by the chairman of the Committee on European Affairs of the Hungarian Parliament, Zoltán Tessely. From the European Parliament, the chairman of the Constitutional Affairs Committee, Sven Simon, was present.
