Agnieszka Pomaska ​​was unanimously elected the President of the parliamentary European Union Affairs Committee.

Within its remit, the European Union Affairs Committee deals with matters relating to the Republic of Poland’s membership of the European Union; in particular, it adopts positions and issues opinions on EU draft legal acts, as well as examines the compliance of EU draft legislative acts with the principle of subsidiarity; it also formulates opinions for the Council of Ministers concerning the position that the Council should adopt during the consideration of the Union documents in the EU Council, it examines information and documents submitted by the Council of Ministers and sent by the EU institutions; the Committee also issues opinions on candidates for positions in the European Union bodies.

Furthermore, each six months the European Union Affairs Committee meets with the Ambassador of the country holding the Presidency of the EU Council. The Committee also conducts debates on the current key issues discussed at the EU forum. Such meetings are also attended by members of the European Commission.

The representatives of the European Union Affairs Committee also actively participate in the interparliamentary cooperation on issues concerning the European Union, in particular in the works of the Conference of Community and European Affairs Committees of Parliaments of the European Union (COSAC).
