Agnieszka Pomaska participated in a meeting with a delegation from the Committee on European Union Affairs of the Romanian Parliament, which was visiting Poland. One of the main topics of discussion was the SAFE programme and its significance for the development of the European defense industry and the strengthening of security across the region.
During the discussions, attention was drawn to the fact that in Romania the SAFE programme has not become the subject of as intense a political dispute as in Poland, despite the fact that approximately 20 percent of the programme’s allocated funds are expected to benefit the Romanian defense industry. Romanian partners expressed particular interest in the projection that, in Poland’s case, at least 80 percent of the programme’s resources could support domestic industry.
The talks also focused on cooperation between the defense industries of both countries. It was emphasized that Romania is among the recipients of Polish military equipment, including Polish-made Warmate unmanned systems produced by the WB Group. The value of the contract is estimated at approximately €147 million.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views and experiences regarding security, European cooperation, and the role of domestic defense industries in strengthening the resilience of the region.
