Commencement of Offshore Installation Works for the Baltica 2 Project

2026-05-11

In Gdańsk, offshore installation works connected with the Baltica 2 project were symbolically inaugurated. The project is currently the largest offshore wind farm under development in Poland. Agnieszka Pomaska took part in the event.

The project is being implemented by PGE Baltica and Ørsted. The 1.5 GW offshore wind farm is being constructed in the Baltic Sea, approximately 40 kilometers off the Polish coast. The investment includes the installation of 107 wind turbines, with the first electricity expected to be delivered to consumers in the first half of 2027.

According to the project’s assumptions, Baltica 2 will be capable of supplying electricity to approximately 2.5 million consumers, becoming one of the key pillars of offshore wind energy development in Poland.

During the event, emphasis was placed on the importance of the investment for the country’s energy security, the development of the domestic offshore sector, and the strengthening of the capabilities of Polish enterprises. Attention was also drawn to the project’s potential to create new jobs in sectors connected with ports, shipyards, logistics, and advanced technologies.
