Agnieszka Pomaska met in Spain with Charles Powell, Director of the Elcano Royal Institute, one of Spain’s leading think tanks specializing in international relations and European affairs.
The discussion focused on the place of the European Union in contemporary public debate in Spain, particularly in the context of the 40th anniversary of the country’s accession to the European Communities. The conversation also addressed the impact of the conflict in the Middle East on Spain’s domestic political situation, as well as issues related to the country’s financial engagement abroad in the absence of an approved state budget since 2022.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to extend congratulations on the 25th anniversary of the Elcano Royal Institute, which for many years has remained an important center for analysis and debate on international affairs and the future of Europe.
