On 26–28 August 2025, the XXVII Interparliamentary Conference on the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) took place in Copenhagen. The event was organised under Denmark’s Presidency of the Council of the EU by the Danish Parliament in cooperation with the European Parliament.
The conference was co-chaired by David McAllister, Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Christian Friis Bach, Chair of the Folketing’s Foreign Affairs Committee. It brought together representatives of national parliaments of EU Member States, including from Poland: Agnieszka Pomaska, Member of the Polish Parliament and Chair of the European Union Affairs Committee, Senator Grzegorz Schetyna, Senator Tomasz Grodzki, and Senator Mirosław Różański.
Discussions focused on the future of European security policy, EU–NATO cooperation, the defence of democracy and Ukraine’s sovereignty, as well as EU enlargement as a strategic investment in peace and stability on the continent.
During the debates, the Polish delegation presented its position, stressing the need to strengthen Europe’s military capacity, ruling out any return to “business as usual” with Russia, and underlining the importance of continuously reinforcing transatlantic ties. The delegation also highlighted the necessity of providing Ukraine with controlled and strategic military support, which remains vital for the security of the entire region.
“Europe stands for diversity and dialogue, cooperation and solidarity, freedom, democracy and human rights. This is what we must defend!” — wrote Christian Friis Bach, Chair of the Folketing’s Foreign Affairs Committee, on his social media.
