On 17 July 2025, a delegation of the European Union Affairs Committee of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, headed by Chairwoman Agnieszka Pomaska, paid a visit to Podgorica at the invitation of the Chair of the Parliament of Montenegro’s Committee on European Integration, Ivan Vuković.
During the meeting, the parties discussed key challenges facing Montenegro on its path to European Union membership, as well as the prospects for EU enlargement to include the Western Balkan states.
The delegation also met with Admir Adrović, a member of the Montenegro-Poland Friendship Group. The Montenegrin parliamentarian said that parliaments play a crucial role in the EU accession process—not only through legislative work but also by strengthening dialogue and encouraging all relevant actors to accelerate reforms and ensure their effective implementation. He also pointed to the added value of the strategic cooperation between Poland and Montenegro within NATO, recalling that Poland was among the first countries to ratify the Protocol on Montenegro’s accession to the Alliance.
Agnieszka Pomaska underlined that the relations between Poland and Montenegro rest on long-standing friendship, mutual trust, and openness, stressing the importance of enduring cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels. “Montenegro can count on Poland’s unwavering support until its accession to the EU, as well as beyond that moment. Your country has demonstrated consistency in upholding European values, which we jointly share. We have no doubt that in the near future we will become equal partners within the European Union, thereby making it stronger—because without Montenegro and the Western Balkan countries, the EU remains incomplete,”- Pomaska concluded.
