‘Europe today sees Poland as a leader in a period of major challenges’ – COSAC Chairs meeting at the Polish Senate.

A meeting of the Chairs of the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union (COSAC Chairs), organised in the Senate, today inaugurated the parliamentary dimension of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The topics of the meeting were the priorities of the Polish Presidency and countering the effects of climate change from the perspective of the EU budget.

During the debate, it was emphasised that it is up to parliamentarians, among others, to ensure prosperity, security and peace for their constituents on the basis of the fundamental values of the European Union, such as freedom, the rule of law and solidarity. Participants in the talks agreed that the goals could be achieved under the Polish presidency and the following countries provided that they unite and cooperate closely.

During a press briefing held during the break of the meeting, the chairwoman of the parliamentary Commission for European Union Affairs, MEP Agnieszka Pomaska, said: ‘It was with great pride that we listened to all the voices at the meeting, because we see with what hope EU members and candidate countries look at the Polish Presidency. They see Poland today as a leader in a period of serious challenges’.
