COSAC Troika meeting chaired by Tomasz Grodzki and Agnieszka Pomaska.

2025-01-26

A Troika meeting was held today in the Senate, hosted by Tomasz Grodzki, Chairman of the Senate Committee on European Union Affairs, and Agnieszka Pomaska, Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee on European Union Affairs, as representatives of the Polish Presidency. It was mainly devoted to organisational matters.

The Senate session took place on the eve of a meeting of the Chairpersons of the Conference of Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union as part of the parliamentary dimension of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2025.

The meeting approved, among other things, the draft programme of the meeting of COSAC Chairpersons, the draft programme of the plenary session of the LXXIII Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union (COSAC) in June this year, and the outline of the 43rd Biannual Report of COSAC. Approval was given for delegations of non-EU parliaments such as the United Kingdom, Norway, Switzerland and Kosovo to attend. The Polish Presidency’s decision not to invite Georgia to the Warsaw deliberations was also discussed, supporting the basic argument that since Georgia had suspended negotiations and the accession process, it should not be treated like any other candidate country.

The Troika COSAC is a meeting of representatives of the national parliaments of the Member States of the European Union, organised within the framework of inter-parliamentary cooperation. The Troika consists of the chairpersons of the European Affairs Committees of the parliaments of the three countries: the country holding the Presidency of the Council of the EU, the preceding country and the country which will hold the Presidency in the future, as well as the European Parliament.
