Agnieszka Pomaska, together with Barbara Nowacka, has submitted a complaint to the National Broadcasting Council of Poland (KRRiT) and the Media Ethics Council regarding a broadcast material aired by Telewizja Republika. In their assessment, the material repeated narratives used by Russian propaganda to fuel social divisions, intensify tensions, and undermine trust in democratic institutions.
The complaint concerns messages that correspond with patterns used in Russian information operations targeting Poland and countries supporting Ukraine. One of the key objectives of such activities is to deepen existing social divisions, foster distrust, and weaken societies’ resilience against manipulation.
Freedom of speech remains a fundamental pillar of a democratic state; however, it also entails responsibility for the content that is published and broadcast. The media should adhere to the principles of accuracy, verification of information, and professional journalistic ethics.
Amid Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine, information security has become an important element of national security. Disinformation campaigns and attempts to influence public opinion are among the tools used by states pursuing hostile policies towards Poland and its allies.
The complaint submitted to the National Broadcasting Council of Poland and the Media Ethics Council aims to establish whether the material in question breached applicable regulations and journalistic ethical standards.
