Meeting with Belarusian Democratic Leader Pavel Latushka on Repression and Support for Civil Society

On February 26 in Warsaw, Agnieszka Pomaska met with Pavel Latushka, Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarusian democratic forces.

During the meeting, the ongoing repression carried out by the regime of Alexander Lukashenko against civil society in Belarus was discussed. Pavel Latushka presented the current situation of individuals persecuted for political reasons, emphasizing the scale of actions targeting the opposition, independent media, and democratic activists.

The discussion also covered cooperation within the Council of Europe and efforts to strengthen support for the Belarusian democratic opposition. The importance of international solidarity and consistent pressure on the regime in Minsk was underlined.

The meeting was an expression of support for the Belarusian people’s aspirations for freedom, democracy, and respect for human rights.
