Favorable EU Budget Plan for Poland – Meeting with EU Budget Commissioner Piotr Serafin

2025-07-24

On Thursday, 24 July 2025, a meeting of the European Union Affairs Committee took place in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, with a special guest— European Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration—Piotr Serafin.

The main topic of the meeting was Commissioner Serafin’s presentation of the key assumptions of the new EU budget plan (MFF), which was unveiled by the European Commission on 16 July this year.

The new budget plan includes, among other things, support for the Green Deal, increased funding for defense and security, and the introduction of a new program—“European Starlink”—aimed at making the EU independent in the digitalization and space technology sectors.`

Thanks to Commissioner Serafin’s presence, Polish parliamentarians were able to hear the core budgetary strategy “first-hand” and had the opportunity to express their concerns and proposals before the final shape of the MFF is determined.

The meeting with Commissioner Piotr Serafin was an important element of the ongoing dialogue between the European Commission and Polish legislative and executive institutions.
