One of the most memorable moments of this year’s Campus Polska Przyszłości was a meeting with Andrzej Poczobut, a journalist, activist representing the Polish minority in Belarus, and a symbol of resilience in the face of Alexander Lukashenko’s regime.
Until recently, his release had been the subject of international appeals and diplomatic efforts. After spending five years in a Belarusian prison, Andrzej Poczobut has regained his freedom and was able to meet with Campus participants in Olsztyn.
It was an immensely important and symbolic meeting, particularly for all those who had spent years calling for his release. His story is a powerful reminder of the price that can be paid for remaining true to one’s values, the truth and freedom.
