Agnieszka Pomaska met with Paweł Tałankin, the creator of the film “Mr Nobody Against Putin.” Their discussion focused on the importance of truth, courage, and responsibility in the face of contemporary challenges related to disinformation and propaganda.
Following Vladimir Putin’s announcement of the so-called “special military operation in Ukraine,” Tałankin, who was working at a school in Karabash, began documenting from within the mechanisms of the Russian propaganda apparatus. The materials he gathered became the foundation for the film.
After the end of the school year, he managed to leave Russia and take the recordings with him, which proved crucial to the production. His story illustrates the significance of individual courage and the power of personal resistance in the face of authoritarian systems.
“Mr Nobody Against Putin” is not only a story about contemporary Russia, but also a universal narrative about the defense of freedom, opposition to propaganda, and the importance of democratic values.
The film is also available in Polish cinemas since late February.
