MP Agnieszka Pomaska took part in a debate accompanying the launch of Polityka Insight’s report, Towards the Sea: The Economic Potential of Poland’s Northern Regions.
The discussion focused on the opportunities and challenges associated with the development of Pomerania. The region is playing an increasingly important role in Poland’s energy transition. Electricity from Poland’s first offshore wind farm is already being fed into the grid, preparations for the construction of a nuclear power plant are underway in Choczewo, and an offshore wind farm service centre is operating in Łeba. A state-of-the-art gas-fired combined-cycle power plant is also being developed in Gdańsk.
Other topics included security, infrastructure development, job creation and the training of skilled workers to meet the needs of a changing economy. The quality of life of the region’s residents also remains an important consideration.
