On 20 January, Agnieszka Pomaska spoke at the forum in Davos, held as part of the World Economic Forum under Poland’s leadership. One of the key themes of the Polish presidency was the responsibility of public leaders in countering disinformation.
The politician emphasized that the fight against fake news should begin with politicians themselves, opinion leaders, and representatives of the media and business sectors. She pointed out that disinformation has become a widespread phenomenon and has a real impact on public debate.
“It is our responsibility not to spread disinformation and false information. This is a fundamental issue, because the problem is already present today both in politics and in the media,” she stressed.
In her speech, Pomaska also highlighted the crucial role of education. In her view, the ability to recognize fake news should be an integral part of the education system, and society should be educated in this area in a systematic and long-term manner.
