Study visit of the EU Affairs Committee to Brussels – on security, the budget and the future of the EU

On 15–16 September 2025, the Chair of the European Union Affairs Committee, Agnieszka Pomaska, participated in a study visit of the Committee to Brussels.

The programme opened with a meeting with Ambassador Agnieszka Bartol, Deputy Permanent Representative of Poland to the EU. A key item on the agenda was also a meeting with Katarzyna Smyk, Head of the European Commission Representation in Poland.

Discussions focused on issues of particular importance for Poland, including security, negotiations on the Mercosur agreement, deregulation matters, and the preparation of the future EU budget.

The delegation also met with Raffaele Fitto, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Cohesion and Reforms. The exchange of views addressed the current state      and future prospects of EU cohesion policy for Poland, in the context of the next Multiannual Financial Framework.

The visit aimed at exchanging experiences, strengthening Poland–EU relations, and gaining enhanced insight into decision-making processes and the development of EU policies of key relevance to Poland.
