Energy Transition at the Heart of the EU Debate: Poland Speaks Up in Copenhagen

2025-12-03

A meeting of the Committee on European Union Affairs was held in Copenhagen, concluding the Danish Presidency, with the participation of 200 parliamentarians from EU member states and candidate countries. MP Agnieszka Pomaska also took part in the event.

During the panel dedicated to energy policy, the Polish perspective on the energy transition was presented. It was highlighted that:

  • June 2025 was the first month in Poland’s history in which electricity production from renewable energy sources exceeded that from coal,

  • Poland plans to invest 100 billion euros in the development of offshore wind energy over the next two decades, which will also contribute to the modernisation of ports, shipyards, services and technologies,

  • access to clean energy can enhance Europe’s competitiveness, but the energy transition must be fair and take local conditions into account.

The meeting summarised the work carried out so far and outlined the directions for further cooperation between EU countries in the area of energy and climate transition.
