On 3-4 November, a meeting of the Commission on European Integration of the Western Balkans (COSAP) was held in Belgrade. The event was attended by the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Commission for European Union Affairs, Agnieszka Pomaska.
– On this occasion, joy and congratulations to the President of Moldova, Mai Sandu. The Moldovans’ choice of a European direction is an important signal to the European Union. But also the Union must engage more strongly in the whole enlargement process, commented MP Pomaska on social media.
The Conference of Parliamentary Committees on European Integration/Strategisation and Association Process Countries in South-Eastern Europe (COSAP) was established in Sarajevo, in June 2015, as a result of the conclusions of the 2003 Thessaloniki Summit. It was created as a forum to promote fundamental internal reforms based on a common desire for EU integration.
COSAP is an affirmation of the participating countries’ readiness with regard to the implementation of reforms based on EU values, which imply the development of democracy, the rule of law, respect for human rights and freedoms, tolerance and mutual understanding leading to consolidation and reconciliation. COSAP has a clear agenda and perspective of strengthening cooperation between the European integration committees, with significant help provided by the European Parliament.
Committees on European Integration /Affairs of parliaments of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia are members of COSAP.
