The Sejm passed an act ratifying the anti violence convention

“The Polish Sejm will never consent to tolerating violence. Acting as those in power and as MPs, we need to combat phenomena that are by no means acceptable in Poland or anywhere else in the world” – Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz noted.

On Friday the MPs passed an act ratifying the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence. 254 MPs voted in favor of the ratification, 175 were against, and 8 abstained.

It is a good day for those awaiting this law, and especially for the victims of violence – the head of the government stressed.
