EPP Young Members Network meeting in Porto 3.11.2009, written by Agnieszka Pomaska
Agnieszka Pomaska was one of the 30 young parliamentarians who participated in the 4th EPP Young Members Network. It took place in Porto from 29-31 October 2009.
The main issue covered at meeting was the possible cooperation opportunities between European national parliaments after the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty. Participants also discussed the state of EU financial markets.
Young parliamentarians in Porto were entertained by Rui Rio, a Mayor of Porto and had the chance to discuss with many guests including Janusz Lewandowski MEP, Polish candidate for the position of EU Commissioner, Valdis Dombrovskis, Prime Minister of Latvia and Paulo Rangel MEP, Vice-Chairman of the EPP group in the European Parliament. A leader of the meeting was Andreas Schwab MEP, Coordinator of the Young Members Network.
The meeting gathered young MP’s from all 27 Member States, among whom Polish delegation was the biggest one. As far as meetings are organised on annual basis, contacts made this year will surely follow in an exchange of experience via Internet. For this purpose Facebook seems to be the best tool!
